Effective July 1, 2009, all manufacturer of computer
equipment, as defined in the Act, must (i) adopt and
implement a recovery plan, and (ii) affix a permanent,
readily visible label wit the manufacturer's brand before a
manufacturer may offer this computer equipment for sale in
the Commonwealth. The recovery plan must be posted on the
Computer Manufacturer's website and available to the general
public by July 1, 2009, and contain specific outlined in the
Act.
The law requires that the manufacturer must provide a
toll-free number and website address that provides
information about the program, including a detailed
description of how a person may return a covered electronic
device. The program will accept the following device from
household consumers, covered under the Virginia law.
